What is AI? I'm thrilled to be a part of the team that's working to figure that out for all of us.

– Michael Swartz, Data Engineer, EAI

Mike Swartz is a data engineer at the Institute for Experiential AI. Prior to joining Northeastern, he spent seven years as a software engineer at a series of Boston-based tech startups. At Fuze, Swartz worked on a streaming data platform, processing billions of telecommunications events daily in a real-time, distributed, fault-tolerant system. At Algorex Health, he built data pipelines and web services to support and share machine-learning models of social determinants of health. At Crayon, Swartz built secure, high-availability APIs to rapidly provide data to customer-facing web applications.

Swartz holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and environmental studies from Dartmouth College and is now working toward his master’s degree in computer science from the Roux Institute in his new home of Portland, Maine. Originally from Vermont, he enjoys spending his free time outside—climbing, skiing, and cheering on his favorite team, Portland Rising.
