Elena Esposito is a professor of sociology at Bielefield University and a professor in the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Università di Bologna.
With a background in sociological systems theory, Elena Esposito works on the theory of society, media theory, memory theory, fashion, and the sociology of financial markets. Her recent work covers the move from traditional artificial intelligence to an innovative notion of artificial communication.
Elena received a five-year advanced grant from the European Research Council to support her work. Her current algorithmic prediction research investigates the consequences of new digital techniques in different areas of society that still rely on probabilistic forms of managing future uncertainty, such as insurance, medicine, and policing.
