David Lewis

David D. Lewis is a computer scientist and artificial intelligence consultant with more than 30 years of experience in information retrieval, machine learning, natural language processing, and statistics. In 2022, David co-founded Redgrave Data, a legal technology services firm affiliated with Redgrave, LLP, the world’s leading information law firm. His focus areas include machine learning, information retrieval, responsible AI, legal technology, and AI regulations.

David began his career with research appointments at the University of Chicago, AT&T Bell Laboratories, and Bell Labs, where he did foundational research in statistical text categorization. After leaving AT&T, David consulted with industry and government on text analytics applications, advised investors, and worked on numerous legal cases as an expert witness and consulting expert. He also collaborated with university research groups.In 2016, David became the chief data scientist of Brainspace, where he led the AI engineering team in developing text analytics software for e-discovery and investigations. After the acquisition of Brainspace, he served in 2021 as executive vice president for AI research, development, and ethics at Reveal-Brainspace. David is a fellow with the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a winner of the Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on Information Retrieval Test of Time Award. Outside of work, David enjoys biking and attending the theater.
