Gareth Woolley is a data scientist with the Institute for Experiential AI at Northeastern University. As part of the AI Solutions Hub team at the institute, he is responsible for building AI-based solutions for a diverse roster of clients across a range of specific industries.Prior to joining the institute in January, 2023, Woolley was based in Sydney, Australia. While he was there, his work as a data scientist at WooliesX, a subsidiary of the Woolworths Group, and investment analyst at Pepper Financial Services Group gave him an in-depth understanding of data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling. All of these skills allow him to develop recommender systems that are both accurate and effective for end users. In addition, Woolley’s work to date has been a key part of improved customer engagement, sales optimization opportunities, and enhanced consumer experience.Woolley has a particular interest in the construction and deployment of recommendation engines, using data-driven insights and predictive modeling techniques to both personalize and enhance the customer experience. The latter is an important part of driving financial growth at companies, and aligns with his previous experiences within the retail and finance sectors.Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Woolley has a BS in computer science and finance from the University of Sydney. He is passionate about the intersection of technology and consumer-facing solutions, a commitment that he sees as an integral part of his continuous improvement in the workplace. When he is not staying at the forefront of the latest alignments in AI and business, Woolley enjoys hiking, playing tennis, and spending time with his friends and family.
