Laura Haaber Ihle is a research scientist - AI ethicist at the Institute for Experiential AI at Northeastern University and an associate researcher in the department of philosophy at Harvard University. She received her doctorate in philosophy, economy, and political science in 2020 from the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Italy, and has worked as an associate researcher at AI Ethics Lab.

With expertise in AI ethics, applied epistemology, and tech governance, Laura’s research domains span the epistemic implications of emerging technologies to practical ethical concerns regarding the design, development, and use of AI. Her research applications include designing training modules for AI practitioners, developing governance structures for AI ethics, and examining the theoretical foundations of the field. A central objective of her research is to establish what it takes to create strong and healthy knowledge environments online.

Laura has presented her work at academic and industry conferences worldwide and continues to work with an extensive network of international partners. She has received numerous individual research grants and was nominated by her previous university for the Italian Premio Spitali prize for best doctoral thesis in 2021.
