Lawson L.S. Wong is an assistant professor in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences, and he leads the Generalizable Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (GRAIL).

Wong is interested in the fields of robotics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, with a focus on learning, representing, estimating, and utilizing knowledge about the world that an autonomous robot may find useful. He aims to enable robot generalization by identifying and understanding intermediate state representations that enable effective robot learning and planning.

Before joining Northeastern, Wong was a postdoctoral fellow and senior research associate at Brown University. He earned his doctoral degree from MIT and his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from Stanford University.
