Michael Bennett
Director of Education Curriculum and Business Lead for Responsible AI
Michael Bennett is the Director of Education Curriculum and Business Lead for Responsible AI at the Institute for Experiential AI (EAI). Until May 2022, he served as the Director of Student Experiential Immersion Learning Programs at the Discovery Partners Institute (DPI). There, Michael was responsible for leading and managing a growing portfolio of academic and informal learning programs. He also helped develop and maintain relationships with Chicago-based employers, matching emerging talent to in-demand tech jobs.
Previously, Michael was an Associate Research Professor in the School for the Future of Innovation In Society and the Center for Science and Imagination at Arizona State University, as well as a Lecturer in law at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. He has worked as an Associate Professor of Law at Northeastern University and as a research professor at the University of Michigan. He served as an Executive Committee member of the Young People’s Project, and in 2015-2016 was a member of the American Bar Association’s Committee on Bioethics and the Law. He has served for three years as a board member of Leonardo, the International Society for the Arts, Sciences and Technology.
From 2019-2021, Bennett served as Commissioner of Arts and Culture for the city of Tempe, Arizona. His legal practice and research primarily concerns innovation in the arts and technoscientific fields. He holds legal licenses in Illinois and Michigan and regularly consults with innovators in artistic and technoscientific domains, limited-resource academic and artist-operated institutions, and politically-active celebrities.
