Pau Closas is an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering. His primary research interests include statistical signal processing, stochastic filtering, robust filtering, and machine learning, with main applications in positioning and localization systems.

Closas has held volunteer editorial roles at scientific journals including NAVIGATION, Proceedings of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, and IEEE Signal Processing Magazine. He has organized committees for the European Association for Signal Processing conference and IEEE events including, the Workshop on Statistical Signal Processing, the Position Location and Navigation Symposium, and the International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing.

He is the recipient of the European Association for Signal Processing Best Ph.D. Thesis Award, the Duran Farell Award for Technology Research, the Institute of Navigation’s Early Achievements Award, and the National Science Foundation’s CAREER Award. Closas earned a Master of Science and a doctoral degree in electrical engineering and a Master of Science in advanced maths and mathematical engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
