Thulasi Tholeti is a Research Scientist in the Responsible AI Practice at Northeastern University, working at the intersection of research, consulting, and implementation. Her expertise spans LLM evaluation, AI governance, and responsible AI research. Her current work focuses on developing rigorous methods for evaluating AI systems, with particular interest in fairness, bias, and inclusivity.

She advocates for responsible oversight and intentional deployment of frontier AI models, believing that progress and caution aren't in tension, but that what we choose to open up access to matters as much as the capability itself.

Currently based in Boston, Tholeti holds a PhD in machine learning from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and an undergraduate degree in engineering. She has published in leading AI conferences including ICML, KDD, and IUI, and serves as a reviewer for various conferences and journals in the field. She has also mentored multiple graduate students in their research. Outside of work, she likes long walks by rivers, lakes, and beaches.
