Dr. Charles Meyers is a Research Scientist in Responsible AI, holding a PhD from the Department of Computing Science at Umeå University in Umeå, Sweden, an MSc in Data Science from the City University of New York School of Professional Studies, and dual BSc degrees in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from the New York City College of Technology. His academic focus includes trustworthy and adversarial machine learning, robustness evaluation, and verification/validation techniques. Recent accomplishments include defending a doctoral thesis titled “Trustworthy Machine Learning” on June 11, 2025, at Umeå University, and co-authoring several papers such as Massively Parallel Evasion Attacks and the Pitfalls of Adversarial Retraining (2024), Safety-Critical Computer Vision: An Empirical Survey of Attacks and Defences on Computer Vision Systems (2023), and A Training Rate and Survival Heuristic for Inference and Robustness Evaluation (Trashfire) (ICMLC 2024/2025). His previous work experience includes contributions to self-driving vehicle systems and community-driven wireless mesh networks with expertise in embedded systems and scalable machine learning.
