Michael Wan
Research Scientist

Michael Wan is a research scientist at the Institute for Experiential AI at Northeastern University. He does research in computer vision and machine learning with applications for healthcare, working closely with scientific collaborators on a range of projects, including infant state and pose estimation, infant neurodevelopmental health, medical image analysis, and more.

Growing up in Toronto, Canada, Michael received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics, physics, and philosophy from the University of Toronto, and his doctorate in mathematical logic from the University of California, Berkeley. He also held a postdoctoral research fellowship in mathematics at Ben-Gurion University. Before joining the institute, Wan worked as an associate research scientist at the Roux Institute in Portland, Maine, leading a team of postdoctoral, graduate, and undergraduate researchers in computer vision at the Augmented Cognition Lab, directed by Professor Sarah Ostadabbas. Wan enjoys playing soccer and acoustic guitar, and exploring urban environments with his camera.
