The Responsible AI Workshop Series
When humans and AI make decisions together, what hidden biases influence the outcome?
This talk by Research Assistant Professor Dr. Mahsan Nourani explore how user attitudes and cognitive biases shape interactions with AI decision-support tools. Learn how these individual differences can influence adoption, trust, and reliance, often leading to outcomes that system designers did not anticipate.
Through examples from user-centered research, you will see how cognitive biases emerge in human-AI collaboration and what they reveal about real-world behavior. The session also examines the growing area of human-Generative AI interactions, showcasing current studies on cognitive biases, the challenges of adapting traditional research methods to large language models, and ongoing work that addresses these issues.
The seminar closes with a look at how researchers and practitioners can build more transparent and responsible sociotechnical AI systems that serve users more effectively.
This workshop is brought to you by the Responsible AI Practice as part of the RAI Workshop Series.
